and as the depths
of oceans slowly become shallow

The room was pleasant - birds were singing their morning tunes, as the rays of sunlight shown through the curtains of her bedroom window, bringing her warmth. She pulled the sheets from over her head, and sat up slowly. Her posture was straight, though this was expected of anyone who knew her history. Bringing the blanket to her face, she rubbed her eyes, squinting as she took a look around the room. As usual, she had obviously slept in. She blinked a few times, before her eyes fully opened. They showed, a radiant blue in the new lighting. Her hair was untamed, twisting and reaching in every direction. She made her way to her vanity, sitting on the convenient chair located just before her mirror. Her hand met the brush on her stand, as she pulled her pure black locks straight once again. The expression on her face was blank, as she stared at the reflection. Her most striking feature, even to herself, was her skin, pale white, seemingly ghastly. She frowned at the sight - she definitely needed to get out more.

Her fingers traced the imperfections of the wall, as she carefully walked to her wardrobe. She slipped out of her night gown, and into a more appropriate dress. It was casual, reaching just past her knees - it was white, a blue ribbon around the waist, with a hat to match. She fit her petite feet into a small pair of silver sandals, reflecting the colors of her dress, and complimenting it thoroughly. Footsteps heard as she slowly walked down the stairs, approaching the foyer of her castle of a home. All was quiet, grabbing her purse as she approached the front door, closing it tightly behind her. Clacking of her heels continued as she walked the stone path, and exited through the gate, into the City Center of Kreine. It was so hard to believe that such a busy place existed just outside the door of her very home. An anxious sigh escaped her naturally pink lips, as she walked outside her safe haven for the first time in a very long awhile.

Cadence had missed the fresh air, and the light breeze through her hair. One thing she didn't miss about the City however, was the noise. The streets were always busy in the more public districts, and people weren't always so polite. Laughter of children echoed off every building, barely drowning out the multiple conversations all going on at once. What was she thinking? She wasn't a very social person, this she knew even herself. Walking into the City Center, she seemed so lost, considering her quiet nature. Her hand caressed her face, as she brushed a few stray locks of hair to the side, clearing her view. She looked around aimlessly, just trying to find somewhere to sit before she was completely overwhelmed by it all. As her eyes skimmed the scene before her, the first thing to catch her attention was the Fountain. Water flowed into the air - so strange, but so natural. It was soothing.

Making her way through the crowd, and being shoved a few times in different directions, she finally found an opening. Unfortunately, the benches were all occupied by families, and women baffling about Soldiers on guard. A look of disappointment took to her face, but she was still determined. Disregarding anyone else, or their thoughts, she carelessly stepped on the edge of the Fountain. There she sat, in broad daylight, in front of the public, and yet, no one cared to notice. A small smile stretched across her lips, as her face soaked up the sunlight. It was so warm, and pleasant for such a frail girl.

Her eyes closed, as she dipped her hand in the water, spinning it with her fingers. And for a moment, all the noise seemed to just disappear. All the busy people, and their busy lives - it all just came to a stop. She pulled her legs up onto the pieced stones, slipping right out of her shoes. One arm hugged her knees, while the other dangled over the edge, her hand still skimming the water. Her head tilted back ever so slightly, as she examined the clouds above her, creatively making shapes with her mind. She was in her own little world...

Twilight slowly turned itself into dawn. The sun's claws extended over the land of Aleha, stretching to where Ariel was quietly sleeping to herself in the forest. A giant oak arced into the sky above her, appearing to spear into the clouds themselves before tapering into the leaves that protected the forest floor below. The tingle of warmth echoed through her slender figure, making her roll slightly to the side. A small lump in the tree poked her in the back hard enough to wake her from her slumber. Immediately, Ariel stood up and looked around, making sure the area was still as safe as it was the night before when she had chosen it. Of course, if it wasn't Ariel would never have slept through the danger with the spirit of the tree protecting her, but it couldn't hurt to be a little overly protective. There was nothing there, and nature seemed to be as calm as it would be deep in the wilderness.

Allowing her magical energy to flow around her, Ariel summoned the spirits of wind which flowed around her. Letting her shoes trail on the ground for a second behind her, she lifted into the air and few up into the oak, settling on one of the higher branches. From there, the entire land lay out before her. Rivers flowed quietly. Trees stretched their branches ever higher, trying to reach the clouds above. The wildlife seemed to be going through their lives as peacefully as ever. Before, this scene would have moved Ariel. Her smile would have appeared easily and all her tension would go away. But now, nothing seemed to give her the warm feeling. Even though the sun was twinkling through the leaves warming her body, her soul felt as cold as it would have been visiting Wrynos in the depth of winter.

Feeling as awake as she could be, the elf woman let herself slide out of the tree and begin a rapid falling descent. Of course, she urged her magic into the wind once again, and flew into the air quietly, this time circling the giant oak a few times, then flying to her favorite spot. It took quite a little while before she arrived, but it was worth it. The ground beneath this spot had small pockets of magma deep within the earth, and luckily there was a reservoir of water very close by. The heat from this patch of earth heated the water and made a hot spring hidden in the depth of the forest. There was a less than audible patter as both of her spry feet landed on the ground next to the spring. No one seemed to be around other than the deer and other critters that called the surrounding area home.

Seeing this, Ariel slid off her clothes, exposing her flawless, luminous skin. Folding her clothes and placing them aside, a few deer had come to admire what the new creature in the area was doing. From the edge of the pool, Ariel let the tip of her foot dip into the water, testing the temperature. Feeling it was perfect, she gracefully slid into the water, not causing a visible ripple. The heat of the water was soothing on her skin. Looking around again, Ariel lowered herself slowly into the water until it reached her lips, then dipped even lower until she was submerged completely. She came up just as slowly, allowing the water to drip from her body, and run in groves down to the surface. The Sun was rising over the horizon, so her bath had to be hurried up.

Once she was clean, Ariel used her spirits of wind to dry herself. From there she threw on her clothes and took off once again. Flying high in the air, Ariel spotted the city that she was off to visit. Her food had run out, so supplies seemed to be running low. Eating animals was something that elves just didn't do, so she needed the vegetables and herbs that she could only get from a human city in this part of the world.

A few hundred meters away, she landed, out of sight of the guards of the city. That was something she had learned in the past. Humans didn't take too well to people flying over their gates and landing inside. She was almost placed in the dungeon once before for such a blunder and wouldn't be making the same mistake again. The gates loomed over as she passed into the city. Human cities were always amazing to elves, and this was quite a city, Royal by the looks of it.

Her hood was kept very low, so she wouldn't draw too much attention, but her ears were very visible, making her race obvious. As long as they didn't hear the stories of her past, now distant enough that most humans wouldn't hear unless it was a bedtime take, they wouldn't know her anyway. Once she got into the city, Ariel moved around until she ended up in the center of the city. A very large fountain shot water into the air while human families sat around enjoying the company of each other. In the nearer past, just the scene would have made her sick with grief, but her soul seemed to have healed to the point she just couldn't feel that anymore.

A young girl was sitting on the fountain, so Ariel sat near, but not right beside her, taking a quick rest before continuing her supply run.

and as the depths
of oceans slowly become shallow

Her senses more keen with her now calm, it was only natural the sudden sound of rustling catch her attention. Someone had actually taken a seat just near here, causing her to open her eyes and look in the corner of her field of vision.

The first thing she noticed the ears, they were pointed. Her eyes widened, as her mouth gaped open just a bit, though not too dramatic. Cadence had never seen such a thing - she had only ever seen Humans, and their ears were rounded and boring, like her own. However, this particular person had a point to the upper part of their ears, and they were a bit longer than that of a Human. It was obvious she was of another Race - the woman before her was of Elven descent. The only reason Cadence knew this was because of all the books she had read while stuck at home, within her too familiar four walls. However, she hadn't ever seen an Elf with her own two eyes until now.

Cadence slowly turned her head in the direction of the young Elven woman, her head slightly tilting to the side. She didn't want to seem so rude, but her presence was just so intriguing. The aura about this stranger was different from the others as well, and she wondered if this had to do with Race, or something more. To her, the woman seemed to project some kind of Light that Humans did not. It was bold, and very eye catching to Cadence. The more interested she got, the more she couldn't help but observe - her hair was a radiant white, and her eyes were brilliant. This Elven seemed to give off natural beauty in all sorts of forms. It was very intriguing, indeed.

Realizing her expression hadn't changed, and that she had likely created an awkward situation, she fumbled for words. “Ahh... Uh-Uhm...” She couldn't help but stutter, due to her lack of social skills to begin with. Gulping a moment, she pulled herself together, and finally spoke up. “Hello...” She could feel a sweat coming on, nervous that she had been impolite and made a bad impression. Cadence could feel her face burning up with embarrassment, as her cheeks blushed...

Ariel was only sitting a few seconds, but the crisp, refreshing mist from the fountain contrasting with the warmth of the sun was amazing. Those few seconds almost seemed like an hour. a small smile crossed her face out of the physical pleasure that seemed to allocate her. Just when she was enjoying it the most, she noticed the curiosity of the girl sitting near her. She seemed to be fascinated by Ariel. Just the thought that someone was genuinely interested in her was nothing new. Humans often wanted to speak to her. But most of those humans wanted something. Her beauty made her the object of many human men's fantasies. Her ability in magic and her race itself made human mages seek her out for training. Even people hearing the legend of the atrocities she committed wanted to just see the perpetrator of such acts that made even the elves exile one of their kind. That attention just flared and opened the old wounds of the past, which often left Ariel having the familiar nightmares that frequented her in her sleep.

The curiosity of the girl only seemed to increase as she leaned over, admiring what she could see of Ariel's face, and her elongated ears that were obviously visible through the hood. Making her examination more obvious, the girl tilted her head and leaned slightly over, trying to get an even better view. The look on her face was almost comical, and an even wider smile broke across her face. Such a thing hadn't happened in almost a century. Even the idea that a small human girl such as this could console her enough, with just a look, to make such a smile cross her face was ludicrous itself. And yet... it happened. Ariel turned her head slightly to the girl, letting her silver eyes go over the entirety of her form with a quick glance.

The girl had long black hair, bright blue eyes, a slender body, and pale skin. Her clothes were above average. Just by looking, the dress she was wearing seemed to be of an average make, but with an eye as observant as Ariel's, the making of the dress was of royal caliber. Nothing like the elven counterparts, but for a human dress made to look casual, this was of spectacular make. The hat was cute, and everything on her went well with each other. The girl seemed to notice that she had a funny look on her face and started stumbling over words trying to greet Ariel with. She giggled a little. To everyone else it would sound like small bells, a sweet sound that men fell entranced with. To the woman that made it however, the sound seemed foreign, almost disgusting.

Ariel's silver eyes locked onto the eyes of the woman. They glowed a brilliant blue in the daylight. Even with her small, almost doll-like appearance, there was a great beauty to be found there. When her eyes pierced into the soul of the girl, she saw no menace or devotional desire, just simple curiosity. A purity of emotion that, during her travels, Ariel had seen very little of. Deciding that this person was worth meeting, the elven woman opened her mouth slowly, calculating the words that she would say to this newfound person. "Don't fuss too much with introductions, your eyes are enough to stress your intentions. And elves aren't much to gawk at. In fact, I prefer human company anyway. It is nice to meet you, girl."

Ariel thought about giving her name right off, but the old elven cultural habits kept her from doing so. Names weren't something to be taken lightly, though humans seemed to have started using them more casually than in previous times.

and as the depths
of oceans slowly become shallow

In reaction to her pitiful greeting, the woman turned to her and locked eyes. It felt as if those glimmering, silver orbs of hers were piercing straight into her soul. Cadence closed her mouth tight, and gulped a little once more. Maybe her gawking had been even ruder than she thought, she wasn’t sure of Elven customs. And finally, she spoke. The fact that she had practically read her mind shocked her a moment, causing her to sit back now. This would be more comfortable for both of them, now that she wasn’t hanging on the edge of her seat to get a good look at the beautiful woman before her. But she still listened – she was better at listening than talking anyways. The kind stranger noted that she actually preferred Human presence, which honestly surprised her a bit. She wondered why, but didn’t question her.

She ended her small speech with a pleasant statement, saying it was nice to have met her. Cadence couldn’t help but smile a bit sheepishly, not many really liked her, but this woman seemed to speak from the heart. Though it was a bit late for introductions, she saw no harm in giving her first name. “Oh, my name… It’s a pleasure to meet you, too. I am called Cadence.” She surprised herself a bit with her clear state of introduction, she hadn’t even stuttered. Something about this woman made her feel more comfortable about being in a public place, and talking to a complete stranger. In a sense, it was soothing. It wasn’t often that she met people so intriguing, let alone someone that found she herself intriguing as well. It was nice. Hoping to be polite, she followed up her statement with a simple question. “Is it okay if I ask your name…?” Although totally innocent, she didn’t want to make the woman feel uncomfortable. But she also felt it would be rude not to ask such a kind stranger their name, to call them accordingly.

Cadence carefully positioned herself, so she could face the Elven woman, and make direct conversation. She even pulled her legs upon the ledge again, hugging her knees with both arms this time. Despite her true age, it was obvious she was still very childish and naïve. She spoke to complete strangers, stared at anything she found interesting, asked questions, and still had a short enough attention span to keep from staying still as she did. But it wasn’t like she didn’t gather all this information, because she certainly did. One of her special traits was her ability to focus on multiple things at once just long enough to savor the image, or any information for that matter. And the way she looked at this woman, it was as if she was expecting a story, rather than just a simple response. Cadence was certainly unique, but she didn’t know any different.

Her nobility had kept her from going normal places with common people, with her parents fear she might get abducted or something else, all which she thought was silly. And the fact that she could easily fall ill from anyone carrying germs, her parents desperately tried to keep her from going out too much, seeing as foreigners visited the city every day. At one point, they had even considered moving to a more remote town, with plenty of fresh air. This would certainly be healthier for Cadence, but her nobility kept her in Kreine. She coped with this, and journeyed out of the house every once in awhile. And so, here she was – sitting on the ledge of a public fountain, finding simple interest in a foreigner…

Against her original signs, this girl seemed to settle herself down as she opened her mouth the second time. A fluid introduction of herself came out, and thus the girl was named Cadence, a pretty name for a human. Her purity seemed to draw Ariel to the girl. Most humans professed to be the kind of person this little girl was. By the second, this girl seemed to erode the cold shell that Ariel had put up so long ago. Her voice piped up again and asked Ariel her name. Her elf ears twitched slightly and she hesitated. Names were something that Elves held in very high regards because it gives power over others. Humans had, over many years, eroded this themselves, giving their names away casually and indiscriminately. Ariel took a few seconds to think.

Through her head ran through a thousand responses that she would have said before her exile. Most of them set to avoid the question. Before her exile, she would have just said the first one that came to mind and ended the conversation quickly after that, not giving a chance for humans to learn who she was, but that was a hundred years ago. Things had changed, her values had changed, and her very reason for living had changed. Her thoughts still raced, but she settled. Only a few seconds had passed outside, but in her mind, Ariel felt like it had been an hour. The girl had turned to face Ariel, putting her knees in her chest as Ariel had seen many of the elven children do around the older members of the village when listening to a story. This look, however, seemed more out of a sense of interest, while remaining defensive, than comfortability.

Finally, Ariel opened her own mouth and spoke. "I wouldn't make it a habit of asking any elf their name, but I guess I am not your average elf anymore. My name is Ariel, The Windrunner. If you have heard my name before in any stories, please don't repeat it around casually. I am putting my trust in you Cadence. I hope you will not disappoint me." Cadence may have seen the woman as a prude, or perhaps much too serious, but she had no idea how hard it was to break those customs that she had held so strictly in the past. Such a change for her was akin to a human tearing out their own hair. As such, Ariel felt weird having a person she had just met knowing her name, ignoring the fact that many probably heard her tale when they were children.

Ariel waited for the girls response, looking around at the trees. The first changed leaf of the Autumn season broke from its branch and ventured out on its own for the first time. Little did it know, its journey would end up crashing to the ground to be trampled by the other creatures of the world. Ariel placed her hand in the air quickly, diverting the wind currents in the area, having the leaf float quietly to her outstretched hand. "I seem to trust you for some reason Cadence, and I can't place why. It has never come so easy for me before, and that scares me. If you have not heard my story, then someday, I could tell you the real story myself." For some reason, just those words allowed Ariel to comfort herself to some extent.

and as the depths
of oceans slowly become shallow

Her mouth shut immediately, as she noticed the Elven woman’s ears twitch. Never had she seen such a thing, but she had a feeling she asked the wrong question. She bit her lip, fumbling over ways to apologize for being so rude – she obviously wasn’t used to Elven customs, or conversations for that matter. Cadence felt even more insecure than usual, having a difficult enough time talking with her own kind, let alone an Elf. She felt awkward, unsure of her own thoughts, her own words. She certainly didn’t want to be rude, but she didn’t know how to speak. All in all, she was trying her best to make acquaintance with this kind Elven woman.

The woman spoke, giving her a lesson. Apparently, her thoughts were correct, and she shouldn’t have asked her name after all. Nonetheless, she was gentle about it, and actually did respond with her name. Ariel, The Windrunner – what she called herself. It was a beautiful name, and an interesting introduction. In fact, it made hers feel quite plain. But maybe her plain introduction was for the best, seeing as she was a plain person herself. Yet another way she pictured herself in outside eyes. If she wasn’t so self-conscious, maybe she would be more confident in everything she did. She imagined she wouldn’t stutter, or stumble, or needlessly worry about what others thought of her. But that obviously wasn’t who she was, and she often wondered which would be best in the end. Right now, she was trying to make means with her real self, and give her all in order to keep this conversation going. And surprisingly, Ariel didn’t seem to mind speaking with her either.

Finally responding accordingly with her statement, Cadence nodded, acknowledging her friendly warning. “Such a beautiful name, for a beautiful woman.” She thought aloud, but smiled anyways. It was an honest compliment. And Ariel continued to speak, seemingly placing her trust in Cadence. This shocked her a bit, seeing as they had just met. She didn’t know what she meant by stories, for she hadn’t really heard much of Elven before meeting her in the first place. Regardless, she didn’t always believe such silly stories, as most were rumors and lies anyways. But Ariel told her she would one day tell her the story herself, and this she didn’t mind at all.

She smiled sincerely before speaking up once more. “Do not fret, Ariel. Your trust will not be misplaced – I have no reason to believe ill of you. But I do look forward to the day you tell me your story.” As childish as she was, she could be just as mature at times…

A smile brightened the elf's face. Her delicate features had long since forgotten how to accurately perform that emotion, but it seemed she found herself wanting to smile a lot around this girl. She was shy, but her nature was... different, for a human. Her words were spoken softly. Her compliments were gentle and flowing. Everything about her screamed elegance. A human of her standards was really one in a million, meaning Ariel's luck in meeting this special girl was amazing. Her beautiful comments were appreciated, though most humans found the delicate and gentle features to be beautiful. But coming from Cadence, it seemed to be more meaningful. Ariel's heart felt whole again for the moments she was spending with this girl, so she continued to listen while her fragile new friend was speaking.

Her next words continued to make the elf feel welcomed. She hadn't heard the story of Ariel's pain, so that was a plus. In fact, the times that Ariel had been in earshot of the story, she had been made the villain somehow. It was true she had lost control of her power, but had it not been the traitor elf that caused the trauma leading to that end? Of course it had been. But that man had escaped from the place before Ariel's banishment and spread the story while Ariel wandered the wilderness atoning for her sins in her own mind. It was a blessing in itself that this new possible friend had not fallen to those lies.

Ariel turned to her, meeting her eyes again. Her silver irises seemed to glow brighter than before. Her magic blood moved through her body with renewed vigor. It was absurd that a human could invoke these feelings in an elf. Even more so, an elf that had been a loner since her birth over one hundred and fifty years ago. "Cadence, you really are a special human. Your gentle soul reminds me of the traits valued so highly in my kind. It really does me well to see a human like you." A smile crossed her face momentarily again as she stood from her resting place. She felt like showing the girl something, but her frailty remained forefront in Ariel's mind. "If you wish, we could see your kingdom from a better view. I don't want to make you sick though. Feel free to decline."

and as the depths

A moment of thoughtful silence befell the two as they sat, after exchanging short but meaningful words. Ariel continued the conversation to say how valuable of traits she possessed, causing her to blush and smile sheepishly. Although she may have been in relations to the royal family, such compliments were something she wasn’t yet accustomed to. There was never much to be said, she was just passed off as the ill child of the family, and nothing more or less. For someone to actually see beyond her frail physical appearance – it made her glow outward. The presence of this woman was so soothing, and she hoped she gave off the same aura.

The elegant Elven woman stood, a smile crossing her lips. She spoke of a better view of her kingdom, and how she could show her. Her head tilted once again, in curiosity. Just what could she mean by such words? And why would and Elven woman have access to such a view within a Kingdom who’s majority was racist Humans? Normally such thoughts would cause her to ask even more questions, but she stayed silent for the moment – she was still thinking, of course. Her mother, like any other loving mother, had told her to never speak to strangers. And yet, she did. Her mother would also warn her to never trust said strangers, and especially run off with them to unknown places. And yet again, she did this, too. So what exactly was holding her back from jumping up in excitement, and seeing just what this newfound friend was talking about? That would be absolutely nothing, of course.

Cadence looked up at the brilliant woman who stood before her, eyes squinting at the light, but smiling nonetheless. “Yes, please do!” Still childish and naïve as ever, she stood on the ledge of the fountain, where she previously sat. As clumsy as she was, it was a surprise she hadn’t lost balance and fell in yet…

She was bored and karisa just decided to walk about. She didnt know what was all going to happen so she just continued. The party was weird in the caslte and she didn't care for it much now. She was alone but when she got to the foutian and sighed as she saw the beauty if brought to her eyes. The sparkleing water falls each drop of clean water that could unthirst tons of people in the forest and other places. Her hair was a mess and so was her dress. Her shoes were a lil broke and she walked closer to the water to look at her reflection.

''Wow I look like such a mess...and...'' her eyes widen as she saw a little girl. Not a normal girl either, it was the girl from the picture that she saw in the hallway. She touched her face and paniced wondering why she's seeing this and why see's been seeing other things. She looked up and rememebred the last things she has done.

'' She could imagine rose vines, waterfalls, fairies, elves and all liveing and non liveing things. Her mind was like a world of it's own, a light that would never dim or darkness that would never have a speck of light. Karisa's eyes were changeing colors as she thought such things as love, family and things she has never had in her life. She doesn't remember anything and she wished she could but then she thought what would happen if she found out something and she then wished she didn't find out?

Moments later she opened her eyes and looked up and saw the ceiling that continued on and on forever. She couldn't stop wondering where it ended and where the start of the hallway was. It was like she was lost now. In her mind,at heart, soul and now she feels lost in the castle. Karisa got up and ran through the halls and looks around, her eyes turn lost and white and her lips are bit from her own teeth as she wonders where she's at. Karisa then stopped and looked on and saw that she wasn't getting anywhere. Karisa then stood against the wall dusting off her beautiful goddess looking dress and brushing her long silky hair down. Her hair rests on her shoulder and the top is curled a lil covering her right eye and side of the face. Karisa sighs and looks down. Thinking, thinking on what to do in the future and what will become of her. Her heart is once more touched by light like what happened in the Ball room. Karisa wonders what and why it's doing that but then doesn't mind. It felt nice, warm and conferting, unlike how she has felt all those years. She looked up and looked at a picture, the picture of the royal family. She looked at a little girl picture, she looked as if she was 3 or so years old. Karisa studied it and sighed. She couldn't see any other pictures of the little girl so she just kept looking at the one picture.''

After that she left but before she left she saw a guy who was also called the king. Why did she have a feeling she knew him anyways? She didn't know and couldn't find out by just standing here. She looked around and Karisa saw two girls that were chating. One was an elf and the other was a human girl. No age can tell what age they were. Karisa walked to them and then just stopped and sat at the ledge humming an old song that she heard when she was a child. It was known for it's royalty and only the Royal family knew it. Not even the guards new it, for some reason she knew what tune of it.

Does your darkness compare
To my darkness?

All seemed to be flowing smoothly. The air felt mild, and it didn't seem that anyone could get sick from such a temperature, so her plan didn't seem to have any flaws, despite being just an impulsive idea that came about from her feelings when she was able to do this herself. It seemed from how Ariel perceived her newfound human friend, that she didn't get to enjoy the pleasures of such things that Ariel, as bad as her life seemed to her sometimes, could have mock enjoyment from. Her proposition seemed to have an exciting effect on her at least. She stood, and seemed to totter over the edge, balance being another thing Cadence seemed to lack. Ariel stood as well, offering her a hand to make sure that the poor girl didn't fall one way or the other.

If they were going to do what Ariel had envisioned, Cadence definitely did not want to be wet, and falling in general seemed to be something that just didn't seem like a thing one would want to do. Her piercing silver eyes looked at Cadence, but she also caught a glimpse of a new person. A slightly older individual who had taken a seat in relatively close proximity to herself and her friend. The woman was wearing a lavish dress that seemed to be something only some of the more wealthy of humans would wear. Personally, It seemed too... unnatural for Ariel, and elves would typically stay away from wearing such a thing, but it looked attractive nonetheless.

She was also humming a tune, but it meant nothing to Ariel, so she just shrugged the appearance of the new woman off. Cadence was probably finished deciding whether or not to take the elven woman's hand, and thus, Ariel waited patiently until she took it, or decided not to. Everything could progress from there.

and as the depths
of oceans slowly become shallow

Just as she was about to reach for Ariel’s hand, another young woman sat upon the fountain ledge. This time, it was a fellow Human. Cadence couldn’t help but glance at her, noticing her fine made clothing, and fancy hair. She seemed to be familiar, yet distant – like she was from a far off memory, or perhaps even a long forgotten dream. Not once did the stranger’s lips move, but a soft hum made its way to her ears. It was as if she was humming a tune, though she couldn’t quite place what notes corresponded to which song.

And just like that, her mind went from free to flustered in only a moment’s time. It was unusual that she didn’t recognize a song even a strange hummed so carelessly, as music was practically her specialty. Normally, she could identify a song within only seconds, just by hearing a few notes, or even a certain pitch. She tried to brush it off, and looked again to Ariel with a smile. But just as she did, it clicked...

She was only a four years of age at the time, and she was as naturally curious as any child. It wasn’t unusual for her to ask plenty of silly questions, but this one seemed to hide so much more behind it than she could realize at the time. Only later would such information make itself rather significant. But as for now, her mother was tucking her into bed with a warm smile upon her face.

Just before she could utter her closing for the night, Cadence spoke up in the little voice she had. “Mommy, how come everyone is so fond of Prince Vergil? And where’s the Princess, like in the stories you read to me each night?” Her mother’s smile faded slowly, as she tried to find the words to answer her innocent daughter’s question. “Well, dear. The people pay respects to the Prince because he will be their future King.” She paused a moment, sighing as she couldn’t avoid her second question. “As for the Princess, she disappeared awhile ago…” Before she could even continue, the surprised Cadence blurted her thoughts. “Disappeared…!?” Her mother’s eyes widened a moment, before she let out a small chuckle to her reaction.

It was no use, her daughter was just far too interested. “Yes, dear. She was kidnapped. No one has seen her since. So the Kingdom doesn’t make fuss of her, to avoid upsetting the King and Queen. I’m sure that as parents, they’re worried and searching for her even as we speak.” Her mother stood up, from sitting at her bedside. She hoped to leave on that note, but Cadence insisted she stay and tell more. “I don’t know much else, dear. You should get some sleep, before the sun rises.” Naturally, Cadence fussed about in her bed. However, before her mother left, she hummed a tune, calming Cadence and sending her to sleep…

That was it! The tune the young woman was humming was exactly the same as the one her mother had hummed that night. Nonetheless, she couldn’t help but wonder how this complete stranger who just happened to sit beside her knew the same tune. Her eyes widened, in shock and confusion, as she stared at the stranger again. “Excuse me just one moment, Ariel…” She hated to delay her friend in showing her the exciting view she spoke of, but that tune was enough to throw her train of thought completely.

She approached the young woman this time, standing directly before her, almost dazed. “Ma’am… That song you’re humming… Where did you hear it?” Cadence was overly curious, though she wanted to remain as polite as possible. The fact that someone she had never seen before knew the same song her mother did bothered her, especially since she had never heard it from anyone else but her mother before…

She kept humming and more, not able to stop. Her imagination was more like turning into a movie.
3-D motions, seeing blood and death, but then she saw a little girl and looked up from where she was standing. There was a door, with a girls name on it that said ''Karisa''. She couldn't believe her eyes once again, what's with the girl in the picture and the name. Of course it was the girls name but she thought she was the only girl with that name. Karisa eyes then flashed and saw the fountian she was sitting on and the girl and humans. It seemed a girl was looking at her, was she reconized as someone? Or...was is something else, either or she still wanted to know but she sat still. Her dress was a little dirty so as she hummed the song she remembered long ago she putted some water on it and started to carefully scrub. After a few moments it was finally gone and then a woman came by her.
Karisa saw the woman get closer and then looked at her.

“Ma’am… That song you’re humming… Where did you hear it?” She asked Karisa.

Karisa looked at her and thought of where she heared it from but she really didn't know. So she thought of an explanation of where she heard the tune from. Later then she thought of something, coughed to clear her throat and looked at her.

''I can't remember much things about where I got it from, but this tune I am singing is the only thing I remember. I knew it since I was three years old and I never forgot it since. Why are you so interested in knowing Ma'am?'' she wanted to say words as polite as possiable since she doesn't like to be rude. Karisa looked at her and wondered who she was and why she wanted to know. She got up and looked at her and smiled and she of course looked like a rare beauty.
